The program

Lean & Green is the leading CO2 reduction program in logistics.

The Lean & Green provides companies with verified recognition for achieving proven CO2-reduction targets in the logistical operation.

Our story

Our founders

Lean & Green was founded by Connekt in the Netherlands in 2008 by Nico Anten and Herman Wagter.

From the beginning, it has been a program with the industry in the lead role; forming a steering group of leading companies to co-create the program rules and ambitions. Even today, it is the ‘frontrunners’ and ambassadors who co-determine within the programme.

Recognition

5 Star Framework

Since 2008, Lean & Green has developed into the ‘5 Star reduction program’ and is now the leading CO2 reduction programme for logistics in Europe.

Through annual monitoring of CO2 emissions per volume transported (CO2.unit), members demonstrate their continuous improvement in line with the ‘Paris’ and ‘Europe’ climate goals.

International community

National & International program

There are 16 countries in Europe and North America where the programme is implemented on a national level by various partners. The international community has a total of over 500 participating companies.

The international program focuses on multinationals in which the scope of reductions measured and reduced is brought to a minimum of a European scale. With this programme, companies align with the and upcoming reporting requirement from the EU ‘Fit For 55 programme’.
